Mr. Derek Bridges, 36, of Sylvester died Tuesday, November 29, 2016 in Jacksonville, FL. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Troy Dykes will officiate. Mr. Bridges was born on June 28, 1980 in Sylvester, GA. He was the Valedictorian of the Worth County High School Class of 1998. Mr. Bridges was employed with Hamilton Relay. He enjoyed computers. Survivors include his parents, Derel and Terri Bridges of Sylvester; brother, Seth Bridges of Sylvester; paternal grandmother, Thelma Bridges of Sylvester; paternal grandparents, Jimmie & Jane Bridges of Sylvester and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Mr. Bridges was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert L. and Shirley Sellers Watson. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service hour at Banks Funeral Home. I remember when Dixe and Allison came to my Charlotte to help me celebrate my 39 birthday. I was excited I pulled out the fine china for the first time for 5 course dinner. I had a woderful time.
I remember the three of us laughing and dancing to Madonna in the living room all night. I was honored the you trusted my makeup skills enought to paint your face for the Madonna concert. Boy did we make some great memories.
