To the parents and family of Derek Elizondo:

I wanted to write and let you know that my heart and my prayers are with you as you grieve the loss of your precious child. I know too well the pain and anguish you are feeling over losing your boy.

My son was 17 years old, he died on August 23, 2005 after spending 8 days in a coma at John Peter Smith Hospital. His cause of death was severe head trauma suffered in an automobile accident. I can see from the entries in this...

Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to you all in this very difficult time. Derek will live on in the hearts of many. He was a very respectable and sweet young man. May God continue to bless and protect you always.

To the parents of Derek:
Your son was a fighter! He touched my heart in a special way. I was so impressed with how much his friends and family loved him. I know he is going to be an awesome guardian angel. You should both be very proud of yourself for raising such a fine young man. I have counted it an honor and a blessing to have been one of Derek's nurses.

Derek was a great friend and was loved by everyone. his smile would cheer you up in a second. When he walked in the room everything would brighten up. Derek will be missed greatly and I will remember him forever. God bless.
