I am an Army Mom and Derek could have very well been my own son. There are no real words to express the sorrow we feel when someone losses a son, a fiancé...but I know that he will be with you always in spirit. Rest easy son...God bless you all.

I didn't know Derek personally but came to know him, Krystina, and Siobhan through Team Derek. When I read the news of his passing, it hurt so much that I can't begin to imagine what you all are feeling right now. Derek fought so valiantly to get better with Krystina right there with him every step of the way. Truly an inspiration! Derek, thank you for your service and sacrifice; you will NEVER be forgotten.
