Farewell Derek, love to you Marg & Judy & family. Sandra & Milan xxxx

Derek, the Man, the myth, the legend. I will miss catching up with you at our "weight watchers" meetings. We solved the problems of the world and talked endlessly about food and how we would be good next week. You inspired me to garden and was just a truly amazing person. I don't think I will be able to go back to our group catch ups without you there. I only new you for such a small period of time so can't imagine how hard it is for your family. Just a bloody legend.

My heartfelt sympathy Margaret. Derek was salt of the earth with a good deal of mischief tossed in. A priveledge to have known him.

Hi Margaret. So sorry to hear of Derricks passing. A huge surprise and a sad loss for you and our community. Please accept our most sincere condolences. Kind wishes from us, and our thoughts are with you tomorrow, Hanne and Paul.

The life and soul of the Grove was Derek. Always full of joy. He gave me lots of fun and laughter. He´s now joined Jonesy in the next life. Deepest sympathy Margaret and family. Xx

A wonderful man full of laughter and kindness, and a great teacher. We will never forget the help, support from Derek and Margaret when we went into business and the continued advice and guidance, a great Totora has fallen and we all send our love and support to Margaret and their family xxx Jeff and Moreen Evans Hokitika

Many happy memories of Derek and Margaret and family from their time in Franz Josef. He was one of life`s real characters, full of fun and a little mischief, our ears are still ringing from the acetylene "bombs". Love from Lorraine and Richard Molloy

Great man full of generosity and humour. Sincere condolences to Margaret and the Family.

Margaret, Glen Tracy and family. Please accept my deepest sympathy on your loss of Derek. Fond Memories of many years of fun and laughter we had in Hokitika with our Westland motorcycle Club events. Rest in Peace (Tommy). Eddie and the Late Jenny Shepherd and Edd and Aaron
