Brenda and Family,

Words cant not express how sorry I am to hear of the loss of Derek. He was a wonderful friend to my brother Erik, and helped tremendously when our Dad was going through the same battle.

He will be missed.

I am sorry for your loss. Derek is a great man with a warm heart. I stress the present tense describing Derek, because a part of him will always be present.

As you know Derek and I became good friends. A friendship made from mutual respect . I will always respect his unwavering commitment to the citizens of Roseville as a Sergeant in the Reserve Police Officer Unit. Never have I seen a member with such pride. I will remember Derek as the “ultimate volunteer.” Long hours and late nights, he stayed available to assist in whatever way he could.
