Not sure what to say?

It's a mark of his ability and understanding as a teacher and human being that I remember Derek Scarborough after almost 60 years have passed since we last met; I was a student at Carre's. Others have commented upon his approach to teaching and his ability to draw more from students than some of his contemporaries might have done. He was a man of faith but never ceased to be a human being. The difference he made within the life of this callow teenager has remained over the years. I have only...

Was so very sorry not to hear of Dereks death. Long family connections. He taught at Carries Grammar sch Sleaford when my Grandfather( Henry Shute) was headmaster. He married Philip & I & christened our 2 children. He shared my love of riding both ex racehorses & all equines. Gone but never will be forgotten.

I was very sorry to hear that Derek has passed away. He was a very humble and teacher, committed to releasing the potential in others, and pushing them above his own shoulders to succeed. It was a great honour to have been taught by him at Carre's Grammar School in the late 1980s

A lovely man and dear friend and colleague.

Many very warm memories of Derek who was a really excellent teacher at Carre's - very sad to hear that he had died a little while ago. A very warm hearted and caring man who was a good friend to our family.

I learned a great deal from Derek while I was studying at Carres. I remember him as someone the opposite of dogmatic, a man who listened and argued and discussed about almost anything during lessons. Thank you Derek.

Like others here I was taught by Derek Scarborough at Carre's. English, PE, RI were the subjects I recall. He was a warm and friendly man to pupils both during and after their time at the school, and he was a man of his time because he opened others eyes to the more old teachers did not or could not. Over the years we drifted out of touch as people do but I have a soft spot for one of my favourite teachers.

During my time at Carre's, Derek was a truly outstanding educator and encourager. I have remembered him with great fondness for his influence upon my growth and now tinged with sadness.
I offer my condolences to his family and friends

A long time family friend thro Carres Grammar school where he taught, I believe when my grandfather was head ( Henry Shute, who was my grandfather, Henry's daughter Gwen Turner was my mother,) I met Derek through the family friendship & later through the pony club & Blankney Hunt., Derek married my husband & I & christened our children. I was so sad to loose touch around the time of my husbands death in 2009. He was a good man, I still have photos of him at my wedding & blessing the hounds....
