Not sure what to say?

Not a day goes by when I don't think of Derek, Amy and Camano Island. So much has changed in the last few years. I wish I could turn back time and enjoy one more cup of coffee with Derek. He is truly missed....

He was a great man that I regret not talking to more.

Derek and Amaryllis were in my Silver Sneakers Class at The Stanwood Sports Club for many years. I was truly lucky to have gotten to know Derek. I went to one of his rock talks at Cama Beach State Park and saw how knowledgeable and excited he was about rocks.
I am thinking about you, Amrayllis and family, and truly sorry for your loss.

Like Derek and Amy I am a lifetime member of the Everett Rock & Gem Club. I have always been so impressed with Derek's mini-courses when he explained his displays at our meetings. His brown eyes would twinkle as he prepared to present his talks. In true teacher fashion he was always well prepared as he shared his enthusiasm and knowledge that was always interesting and inspiring.

It has been an honor to listen to Derek's wealth of information about geology and witness his appreciation for nature. He will be missed by Everett rock hounds.

Every now and then someone enters your life and makes an indelible impression. For me and I'm sure many others that someone was Derek.

We're going to miss sharing a morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine and hearing the most fascinating real life stories.
