I dont know if family checks these messages but I was reminded of Derek's death and I wanted to reach out. I hope you have found peace. I hope that tiny little baby boy is growing strong and tall. I hope you know Derek is not forgotten. Thank you for your sacrifice as a family.
You are in my prayers!

I'm proud to say Derek was a friend of mine. We met during our tour in Okinawa, Japan. In addition, his unit replaced mine in Afghanistan. He is a true war hero and will never be forgotten. Miss you brother!

Most people don't know this, besides family and friends, Derek died the day before his son was born. As Derek was patrolling the fields of Sangin, Kait was giving birth to Michael. I think about you guys all the time and hope everyone is doing well.

May God give you all the strength you need as you patiently wait for his promised day of peace.(Isaiah 2:4) . . .And he will certainly render judgment among the nations and set matters straight respecting many peoples. And they will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up...
