Derrick Armstrong

I remember Derrick from the time we worked together at the St.James cinema Harrogate.I was junior projectionist there having just left school & Derrick had been away doing National Service.A very kind man who was very helpful to me while we worked together and later to my mother when I went off working around the world as a freelance musician.He would drop in & see her from time to time & let me know if he thought she needed any help.A really very thoughtful and kind man.

I remember Derrick very well from our younger days when he lived at 16 St Andrews Street, I lived next door at No 15 in the 1930s and 40s. He was always interested in film projectionist and loved to show me and my sister Jenifer his magic Lantern slides.

My grandad was a lovely man he dedicated his life to the Odeon in Harrogate. He always loved to play with his train set and had many trains to use.
I will never forget him!
