To Derrick's family and friends, today was especially difficult for all of us. Derrick was the one who made me as strong as i am today. I learned from Derrick to never let things pass by, and to always stand your ground. If Derrick did anything in this life, it was touching many lives.
Derrick youll always be in our hearts.

I see Derek so vividly sitting in my second grade class with his blond hair in a bowl haircut and a giggle on his lips. In my mind he will forever remain young and happy. May God bless Derek, his family and friends…

I wasn’t a close friend of Derrick’s, but I knew him throughout my life. I grew up with him in school and was in disbelief when I heard the news of his passing. I am very sorry for your loss.
