Devin A. Donohue Sr.

Devin A. Donohue Sr., 87, of Sacramento, California, formerly of Groton, CT, passed away Sunday October 1, 2023, at Legacy Oaks of Sacramento. 

Devin was born January 31, 1936 in New London, CT to Daniel Joseph Donohue and Muriel Armstrong Donohue.  Devin was raised in Groton and graduated from Robert E. Fitch High School in 1954. 

He continued his education at Tulane University. Devin lived in many places pursuing his education and career before settling in Sacramento. 

Devin was an accomplished athlete.  While at Fitch he was the football team quarterback. He was also a lifelong golf enthusiast.  Devin’s introduction to golf began when he caddied at Shennecossett Golf Course. The passion for golf continued throughout his life.

Devin is survived by his sister Deirdre Donohue of Pawtucket, RI; former wife Diane Henderson Donohue of Sacramento, CA; son Devin Donohue and his wife Katie of Thousand Oaks, CA; daughters Keli Donohue of Sacramento, CA and Rosanne Kotowski of Mystic, CT; and five grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Angie Martere Donohue of Sacramento.

A Memorial Service will be held 12 noon Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St.in Groton. The family will greet friends 1 hour prior to service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Colonel Ledyard Cemetery in Groton.
