Send FlowersHOLMES, Devin Scott, 19, of Providence Forge, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 16, 2011. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leon Canaday; great-grandparents, Gus Holmes, Augustine Stewart, Katherine Dillon, P.A. and Rosette Adkins; and his uncle, Howie Canaday. He is survived by his loving parents, Darrin and Daphne; his twin brother and best friend, Dustin; and his girlfriend, Laura Davis. He is also survived by his grandparents, Diane Canaday, Merle and Drue Holmes, Julian and Becky Stewart; his great-grandmothers, Nellie Holmes and Adele Stewart; his aunts and uncles, Angela and Peter Adkins, Michelle and Ricky Sweeney and Josh Stewart; and his cousins, Zach, Allison and Vanessa Adkins and Mallorie and Matthew Sweeney. He was a member of Samaria Baptist Church, Chickahominy Indian Tribe, Turtle Clan Drummers & Singers and Cattail Hunt Club. Devin was an avid outdoorsman, he loved his dogs, hunting, fishing and hanging out with his friends. He leaves behind many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends to cherish his memory. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 18 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 19, at Samaria Baptist Church, 8130 Lott Cary Road, Providence Forge, Va. Interment will be in the Samaria Baptist Church Cemetery.
