Vaughn Funeral Home - Spring City Obituary

Devin Scott Thurman, 15 died Wednesday, July 8, 2020 in Parsons, Kansas from injuries received in an auto accident.

Born on July 13, 2004, Devin was a student at Ooltewah High School, where he was a member of the band color guard and ran track; including long distance.  Devin enjoyed skate boarding and roller blading. He loved all genres of music and taught himself to play the guitar. Devin attended the Apison Seventh Day Adventist Church in Apison, Tennessee.

Devin gave the gift of life to four people through organ donation; proving that heroes don’t always wear capes like Superman and Batman; sometimes they wear rainbow striped suspenders and a bowtie! A part of Devin will always live on through total strangers. Even in death, he continued to give to others.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Cheryl Noe and great uncle Terry Harvey.

Survivors include his father Jeremy Thurman, mother Stephanie Jean Harvey Thurman, brothers Chase Thurman, Marvin Denton and Maxwell Thurman, sisters Carlita Denton, Jasmine Thurman, Emma Denton, Aryanna Thurman and Laily Thurman, grandparents David and Connie King, grandfather Steve Harvey and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. David King officiating.  Interment will follow in the Spring City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Vaughn Funeral Home.
