Adobe Creek Funeral Home - Petaluma Obituary

Devin was a shining star in our eyes, someone whose future had no bounds.  He was taken from us too young and he will be dearly missed forever.

Devin attended schools in Petaluma, Sonoma, San Clemente, San Francisco and lastly Berkeley.  Maybe you were in a class with him, he was incredibly bright with a smile that lit up his face.

Dear sweet Devin lived to only 18 years old and is survived by his parents: Dawn Gernhardt and Roderick Urquidi, and Dimitry Yakoushkin; his grandparents: Sandie and Ben Galindo, Owen and Blanca Gernhardt, Elena Powers and Hildegard Heersema; his aunts and uncles: Shawn and Tim Rafferty, Daniela Gernhardt, Veronica Gernhardt, Luis Urquidi, Patty Galindo, Luis Galindo and Abraham Galindo.  The rest of his family and friends will carry him in their hearts as well.

We loved you so much, it’s a tragedy to have to say goodbye, so instead-until we meet again.

Not sure what to say?

Devin, after you moved away I always wondered how you were doing because you were so smart and creative. I always hoped you were getting better. You definitely made me want to get better. Thank you for letting me open up to you.

Devin was one of my closest friends in middle school and had a huge impact on my life. He was always insanely creative, inventive, and had an unforgettable personality. I'm so sorry to see him gone, but I'm happy I knew him.

Devin was a bright, kind, hilarious kid who constantly challenged and inspired me. Playing Dungeons & Dragons with him at Mission was so fun, if a bit nerve-wracking at times due to his fearless inventiveness. What can I say? Gone too soon, but never forgotten. Love and respect to everyone who knew him. He is dearly missed.

I’ll miss you Devin, I’ll value all the time we spent together. You could light up a room with laughter. You always knew how to make me smile.

We love you, and will carry you forever in our hearts and minds.

Rest In Peace, Devin. You were one of the craziest people I’ve ever met and were so full of life. I couldn’t forget you if I tried. I can only imagine the things you could’ve done. I’m sorry it was so soon.

Devin's friends and family,

I feel thankful to be able to say I am Devin's classmate and friend from UC Berkeley. Devin's curiosity and empathy inspired so many people around him, including myself. I looked forward to seeing him and talking to him because I always felt like I was getting smarter and kinder when I did—we always found a way to laugh together. I miss him so deeply and I am so sorry for your loss.

All the love and light,
Cecilia

To Devin’s loved ones,

I’m Devin’s friend and classmate. He was one of the most unique, interesting people I knew. I’ll always remember the music, movies, and art we shared. He was an awesome guy and I will miss him greatly.

Devin will always be remembered as the sweet and inquisitive little boy we knew.

Our Love and prayers to all of his family and friends.
