Devon Ethan Hurst
Devon Ethan Hurst, age 38 departed this life at University Medical Center on Thursday, May 15, 2025. He was born on October 1, 1986, to the union of Chareen Hurst and Dwain Bannister, Sr. Steven Robinson, Father like no other. Devon loved the Lord, and he was his personal Savior. Devon was educated in Kenner, LA and he attended Martinez Kindergarten School, Kenner Head Start, G.T. Woods, Ralph L. Bunche Middle School, and Zachary High School in Zachary, LA. Devon worked at Gambino's, Wheel 1, Hurst Construction, Nelly Hardy Service, Republic Liquor Company, Big Freedia Enterprises, Fuse TV, and World of Wonder. He was also a co-star with his partner Big Freddia on their TV Shows: Big Freddia Queen of Bounce, Big Freddia Bounces Back, and Big Freddia Means Business. Devon was a true artist, and he loved to draw. He was also very passionate about his music. Devon leaves to cherish his precious memories, his mother, Chareen Hurst Robinson; eight siblings, including 4 brothers, Steven and Stephen Hurst, Malcolm Robinson and Landon Hardesty; 4 sisters, Meshonda and Jayla Hurst, Stephany Robinson, and Leante Craft; one daughter, Zyrielle Hurst; one son, Davonne Wells; his life-long partner, Freddie Ross, Jr. aka "Big Freddia"; nine aunts, Sylvia Hurst, Tammy Iddisah, Deaconess Dinna Bannister, Darlean Bannister, Emily Baker (Oliver), Adrienne Tillery (Randy), Christie Robertson (Wilbert), Deiondra Dacosta (Christopher), and B'Nai Brown (Glendall); and 3 uncles, Leon Hurst, Jr., Zerell Walker and Alex Bannister (Lear). He was also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Oakland Baptist Church, 825 Rev. Richard Wilson Drive, Kenner, LA 70062 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Private Burial. A Traditional Jazz Funeral.
