Casar – Mr. Dewey Edward Denton, 77, of 1005 St. Paul Church Road, passed away at VA Medical Center in Asheville on Sunday, November 27, 2005.
Mr. Denton was born on January 6, 1928, in Burke County, to the late Rufus Alexander Denton and Eliza Jane Chapman Denton. He was a horse trader and formerly employed by Fender Service Center of Bridgeport. He was also in the US Army during the World War II, Pacific Theater in Guam.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wives, Faye Hollifield Denton and Joan Bennett Denton and a sister, Velvie Speagle.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Billy Walker of Casar; two stepdaughters, Doris Potts of Johnson City, TN and Linda Price of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandsons, Aaron Webb of Morganton and Shaun Walker of Casar; a granddaughter, Mandy Showers of Austin, Texas; a step granddaughter; a brother, C.W. Denton of Wister, OK; three sisters, Hazel Davis of Morganton, Sue Durako of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Evilene Millard of Aranus Pass, TX; and six great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Ledford officiating. Burial will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Stamey Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Asheville VA Medical Center Voluntary Services, General Post Fund 1004, 1100 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805-2087.

Dear Debbie and Family,
I am so sorry for the loss of your father and my brother. I will miss him dearly. I am sorry that I can't be there,as you know I'm not able to travel very far. Dewey will always be in my heart and in my fondest memories.
