Not sure what to say?

A churchman of the highest order! A mentor, A friend, A scholar who invested in people. An eternal legacy has been bequeathed to unborn generations. What a great gift his life means to the COGIC and the world.

Vonnie, may God bless you and keep you as we celebrate the home going of great man of God. I will always remember for he performed my wedding in 1964.

With Deepest Sympathy to the Burton Family...

Dear Vonnie.

As you may remember, your Dad knew me before I knew myself...smiles. He was a dear frend to my parents, Julius & the late Eva Garrett, as well as my grandparents, The late Rev. Wm. & Edna Garrett and the late Bishop Wyoming & Mary Wells.

May you find comfort in knowing that your Father was a great man of God and has gone home to meet the King.

My Aunt Claudia, Uncle O.T., and I will see you at the services on Friday.

~Love, Patsy

For over fifty years Bishop Burton has been towering force in the COGIC; his dedication to quality preaching and high educational standards will be long remembered. His contributions to theological education sets him apart as one the great innovatives minds. A legend has departed; a legacy is left to us and a clarion voice hushed. He will be long-lived. Shalom!

Vonnie and Shawn, my deepest condolences are extended to you and all Bishop Burton's family,
loved ones, friends, and church members, both in Harrisburg, Steelton, and Philadelphia.

Bishop Burton was truly and greatly loved and respected by the Emanuel COGIC and it's surrounding communities. I'm so thankful to God that, after 42 years or more of being away from Emanuel, I finally found my way back and was blessed to see and hear Bishop Burton again a few times on the 5th Sunday...

My prayers are with Burton Family.

For more than fifty years I have observed the Rt. Reverend D. A. Burton's mannerism as he reflected the highest image of Holiness and the epitome of Pentecostal Christianity. He was preacher parexcelance, a theologian of the first order and a great champion education, specifically theological education. It was he who was instrumental in pioneering COGIC's venturein theological education at the Interdenominational Center, Atlanta, Georgia. A true churchman, a lover of people and a significant...

Bishop D.A. Burton was a giant of Christian grace in the Church of God in Christ; an irreplaceable icon. He will be sorely missed.
