Diana ALMARAZ Obituary

ALMARAZ, Diana Gresser

On January 2, 2015, Diana Almaraz quietly and peacefully left this life after holding her own against lung cancer for 15 years. She was born in Austin on December 4, 1948 to Donald Gresser and Gladys Schultz Gresser.

She is survived by her husband Robert Almaraz; her mother Gladys Gresser; her brother Rick Gresser; and by many friends who will miss her terribly.

Diana graduated from Lanier High School and The University of Texas at Austin. She was employed by the State of Texas for 22 years, where she retired as an accomplished and much admired CIO. For seven years after leaving the State, she worked at Government Partners, helping colleagues find the right technology vendors for their needs.

Diana had a lifelong passion for gardening, growing striking specimens of exotic and native plants.

She made her homes beautiful showplaces, carefully arranging vignettes of precious collections. She was a thoughtful, meticulous hostess and no holiday or other occasion went unmarked.

Diana fought lung cancer valiantly and she lived life to the fullest while managing her disease.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Weed-Corley-Fish North Lamar Chapel.

No visitation. No flowers, please. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Austin Travis County Humane Society, where Diana adopted many wonderful members of her family over the years.

Robert—We were both very fortunate to have known and worked with Diana for many years. She brought care and concern for the mission of Texas Department of Human Services, for the people served, for employees, and for friends—what a great thing for people to be able to say about someone. We're saddened by her passing, and are thinking of you. Larry Hill and Gay Goforth

Diana was my client and friend. Over the years that I worked with her at BodyBusiness her friendship, wit, passion and strength inspired me. She would go out of her way to bring vegetables from her garden or meet me for lunch to catch up. I will miss her dearly. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with your family.
