Diane Reitz, of Jeannette, passed away at her residence on April 27, 2023, one day before her 65th birthday. She was born April 28, 1958, in Greensburg, a daughter of   the late Ray and Jane Stevenson Reitz. Diane worked in the insurance industry as a Loss/Risk Control Consultant. She was a graduate of Jeannette High School and went on to study Safety Sciences at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, class of 1980. Diane was a Steelers fan and had a passion for following and talking politics.

She survived by her sister, Janra Reitz Rankin, of Bellevue; a brother, Ray Reitz, Jr. and wife Diana, of Jeannette; nieces, Jessica Rankin, of Pittsburgh, Renee Reitz, of Jeannette, Jamey Rankin Badger and husband Dan, of Michigan; a nephew Ryan Reitz, of North Huntingdon; and several great nieces and nephews who will dearly miss her.

Diane loved her furry girls, the late Peaches and Maggie Reitz. She is survived by her furry companion Simon who is keeping her spirit alive on Michigan Ave, the street where she lived most of her life.

Not sure what to say?

I just discovered this sad news reading IUP Magazine. Diane and I were safety majors, same class, 1980. We women safety majors were a tribe, supported each other and outsmarted the young men in our classes in so many ways. She was kind, funny, astute, and a smart partier, knowing when exams took precedence.

I still have the graduation card she gave me in 1980: “As you climb the ladder of success, don’t let the boys look up your dress.” I’ve lived by that, girlfriend. Please Rest...

I was saddened to hear of Diane's passing. She was a neighborhood friend who, while growing up, I thought of as out of my league since she was two years older. I got to know Diane better when we were both playground directors in 1979, and ever since then, she was always someone I could regain an instant intimacy with, no matter how long it had been since we talked. Diane was wise, funny, beautiful and kind. Rest in peace, friend. Peg Paulone

My deepest sympathies to the Reitz family! I knew Diane all through school and she was always smiling. I will never forget our almost daily chats in the last couple of years. Gone too soon but reunited with her Mom and Dad! Simon still comes to visit us often at work and I know Diane would be happy about that! Ray and Janra you and your families are in my thoughts and prayers!

My Mother, Mary Dawn Plumb, worked w/Jane @ Horne's for many years. Very sorry for your loss, with deepest sympathy.

To Ray and family Deepest sympathy to you and your entire family in the loss of your sweet sister , Diane. May she rest peacefully

I am SO SO sorry to have heard about my fellow classmate. She was ALWAYS laughing or making you laugh!!! I will miss her dearly at our class reunions

Hearing of Diane´s passing makes me very sad. She was a special friend when we were adolescents and beyond. I have always thought of her fondly and she will be forever in my heart. With sympathy and love,

I always remember Diane in high school....she was a beautiful & kind girl! May she Rest In Peace. Sending my condolences to the Reitz family.
