Barbara Diane Shoemaker, 73, of the Crown Community of Monongalia County passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at her home. She was born in Marion County on October 6, 1944 a daughter of the late Virgil Layman and Verna (Shreve) Layman. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Loyal A. Shoemaker, Jr. ; two sons, Loyal A. Shoemaker III and wife Patti of four States and Jason Shoemaker and wife Sue of Farmington; six daughters, Patricia Hickman and husband Bobby of Joe Town, Michelle Pierce of Florida, Melissa Price and husband Jeff of Grafton and Stephanie Sayre of Clarksburg, Reyna Jordan and husband Jared of Virginia and Larissa Pierce of Fairmont; sixteen grandchildren, Desteny Zopfi, Cheyenne Zopfi, Jeremiah Price, Jordan Dixon, Ashley Wilfong, Andrew Sayre, Alexis Sayre, Addysen Sayre, Amber Shoemaker, Jason Shoemaker II, Daylon Shoemaker, Joey Slater, Joshua Slater, Johnny Slater, Ktryna Eddy and Kyle Craig and twenty great grandchildren. Diane graduated from Barrackville High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. She had worked at Owens-Illinois Glass Factory. She enjoyed reading and working on arts and crafts. She most enjoyed taking care of her large loving family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great granddaughter Aubrey Wilfong. Friends and family may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Sunday from 2pm to 8pm and on Monday from 10 am to 11am. The funeral service will be at the funeral home at 11am on Monday, October 16, 2017 with Pastor Aaron Thomas of Family Life Fellowship officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
