Obituary

DIANE SIMMONS and her husband GEORGE, of Great Falls, Va., were on the first leg of a journey to Hawaii to spread her father's ashes alongside her mother's. Her father died in May, and Simmons had helped care for him for almost seven years during his stay in a nursing home. The Simmonses, who had been married for 19 years, were aboard American Flight 77, which crashed into the Pentagon.

Not sure what to say?

Diane, I was a young High School student when we visited NY from OH. I was in tears by just the feeling of being near the One World Trade Center. It was a chilly January morning. I read the sign that flowers get put down on victims' names on their birthdates and the first one I came across was yours. January 13, 2018. I cried once more near you and your husband's name. For two lives I've never known but always felt so sorry for. I am terribly apologetic for the terror you must have felt in...

Diane sounds like a loving and selfless woman, and I bet George was great too. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of their family and friends who still mourn this loss. We will never forget.

Diane did not die in vain aboard Flight 77.

Miss you. Thinking of you and George.

To The Family,
Although it's been 11 years since the horrific day of 9/11 occurred, the horror and pain of it all is still fresh in our minds. I do not know your family but, I am ever so sorry for your losses.

Sincerely,
Mr. Terry of NC
