On-the-Money Instincts
At 24, Dianne Gladstone, the meticulous young tax official, followed her romantic instincts. She would marry this fellow who had offered — on a blind date no less — a pricey dinner at Maxwell's Plum, in Manhattan's archetypal 1970's singles spot. A year later, she was a Mrs.

And as in her public life — 37 years at the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance — her instincts were right on the money. She and Herb Gladstone, a crane operator, skied, hit the Broadway shows, traveled. Each year they celebrated the holidays at the Queensboro Hill Jewish Center, where they were married, and then it was off to the Caribbean.

Even at home, she was, "organized, maybe too organized," Mr. Gladstone recalled. In their Forest Hills home she had tax files going back to when they had met, he said, recalling her fondness for her tax work as section chief in Tower Two, 86th floor.

Yet in her favorite photo, on the beach at Provincetown at sunset last Labor Day, Dianne Gladstone, at 55, looked as happy as Mr. Gladstone could ever remember, perhaps because her thoughts were far away from tax codes, the paper shredder and the job she treasured. She had decided to retire — to their new house, near the water, on the north fork of Long Island. The moving date was next April.

Not sure what to say?

I was a classmate of Dianne’s in Russell Sage Junior High School. I knew her as a kind wonderful young girl. I am deeply saddened for the tragedy that took her life with 3,000 other souls. We should never forget.

Take care...
Alex

In memory of 9/11 victim Dianne Gladstone...

We send our continued heartfelt condolences to your family. With each new day may God give the needed help and support. Neither the passing of time or words can always remove the deep pain of losing someone that we love. May the happy loving memories that you will always have be of some comfort. Dianne will always be fondly remembered.

Miss you today as we did that horrible day 16 years ago. For me, personally, I love being able to call you Auntie and I loved that the girls allowed you to be shared. I wish you could see their families now and I wish you could see mine as well. I know you would be taking tons of pictures. Tonight I sat with my daughter to share precious memories of you. You are still apart of all of our hearts

I believe I used to take step class with Dianne at the Central Queens Y in Forest Hills back in the early 90s...I can still picture her stepping lively during class! My thoughts are with your family on this 14th anniversary. We will never forget.

Remembered. God bless your family

I knew Dianne at NY Community College. I'm sure she would not remember me but our small "click" had fun and I did not know of her passing until a mutual friend told me.
It was nice to hear that she was enjoying her life with her husband and that she was about to end a very successful career and begin her well deserved retirement.
May she rest in peace and may her family know that their loss is shared by many ....She was a gentle person....jerry DiAntonio

It was the first anniversary of Sept.11 I was on my way to the mall and a church was handing out cards Mrs. Gladstone's name was on this card I received. Letting Dianne's family know I am praying for you and I will never forget.
