Was so sad to hear of your passing. I remember you and your wife coming to dinner at our house when you were playing Albuquerque. I've never forgotten the pleasure of meeting you and your lovely wife. God Bless both of you and thank you for the wonderful music that we can still listen too.

My family is deeply saddened to hear about Dick's passing
He was a true musician a great entertainer and a truly nice man
He talked to my father frequently over the years
I was maybe 14 when he brought me onstage to play my accordion and then he joined in
He was more than Lady of Spain
He sang Old Man Time with Lee Raymond backing him up who was his trumpet player and arranger
And then there was his medley of The Battle Hymn of the Republic and Dixie

It deeply saddened me to hear of Dick's passing. My heartfelt condolence to his family. Dick was a unique and fantastic accordionist and loved his fans. I was thankful to have met him in Las Vegas as he was the reason why I learned how to play the accordion. He will truly be missed.

dick came up to st paul Minnesota to play at mancinas restraurant . my brother glenn kurtz got to know dick when he was on the horice height show way back..stayed at glens home a few times...but to his son sorry about your loss gary kurtz [email protected]

He was a proud sicilian. A very nice gentle man. He loved his family and country.

My condolences to Dick's family. Love and prayers for you in this time of sorrow. Through the years, my husband and I met Dick and his children. It was always a pleasure to see them. It is a sad day to say goodbye.

Dick was a very strong inspiration on my musical life. In my teens, I was studying the accordion when all of sudden came Dick Contino. He made the world stand up and take notice of accordion players. Over night he had us accordion players doing the bellow shake and playing Lady of Spain. He was undoubtedly a great musician, icon, the best of the best.
