Not sure what to say?

I first met Dick in 1965 at the national high school sponsored by tha Jaycees. He won and jumped 6’ 7. I talked to him for about 3 hours. I asked him where he was going to college. He said no one would give him a scholarship since he jumped backwards. Boy , did they miss out on the greatest high jumper of our time.

My Condolences

I was 12 years old and staying up late to watch the Summer Olympics and I was amazed to watch this guy raising the bar using a novel technique! My condolences to the Fosbury family. My thoughts and prayers to your family.

Was on the track team with Dick in junior high and high school. Dick changed the WORLD in high jumping technique, not many people can achieve such a feat. Love you Dick. Mike Miller

As a track & field athlete and an innovation professor, author and consultant, Dick Fosbury was a hero to me. I felt compelled to write a tribute article to him in my sports history newsletter yesterday:

A tremendous athlete who contributed so much to the sport of high jumping. So incredible. Heartfelt condolences to the Fosbury family, truly sorry for your loss, God be with you.

Dick revolutionized the sport of high jumping, and he achieved icon status in the process.

What an imagination to come up with jumping backwards. Revolutionizing that field. To Dicks family you have my sincere condolences. May you be granted peace during this difficult time.
