Not sure what to say?

Our dear friend Mrs. Van and family, we extend our most hearfelt sympathy. Even though we are saddened by the news of Dr Van, we at the same time rejoice that he is with his Savior who he so faithfully served.
We consider him as our spiritual father, and one of missions great leaders, spreading a passion for missions wherever he went. He always saw in us, the best, and encourged us to spend full time in Kingdom work. You two are a godly example and made a wonderful team. Mrs. Van...

Warm Christian sympathy to you and your family, Thea. My mother, Jennie Winkle Veldman, treasured her relationship with Dick. Our family was always grateful for the contact we had with yours, our second cousins. May God grant peace during these sad days.

To the Van Halsema family,

Well done Colonel. You have a major impact in my life and we shall talk about it on the other shore. Praise God for the resurrection. Goodbye but not farewell.

"The main thing- is to keep the Main Thing- the main thing--JESUS."---Dr. Van STS 1996.

I will never forget the influence you have had on our life- and so many others.

Thank you.

Dear Thea,

We are both so sorry to hear of Dick's passing. We also give thanks that he is now with God and not suffering.

I remember so many wonderful times with both of you during the Summer with RBC. We miss you both and hope to see you again when we should visit Dad (Sam Smith).

With Love,

Aunt Thea,

So sorry to hear about your loss, but rejoice with you that Uncle Dick is now in heaven. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

We met Dr.Van and Mrs. Van in the Amazon jungle of Peru in 1982 when we were involved in mission work through Wycliffe and also seeking for further trainning. "Thanks Dr. Van for trusting in us and inviting us to come to study at RBC. As a Latin American I applaud your desire to encourage the body of Christ in this and other parts of the world. Your love for God, our Creator, and your passion for missions was trasmited from you every day. We thank God that you are now resting in His...

I praise the Lord that Dr. Van is now home with his precious Savior. His example directed thousands to treasure the supreme value of Jesus Christ over all things. I am grateful for his influence in my life as a high school student in 1997. It is through START that I sensed God's calling on my life to youth ministry. RBC, class of 2002.
