Not sure what to say?

This man was a very good judge, I was told when i was imprisoned at MCC NY, that i was very lucky to have the judge, because he was very compassionate in sentencing. And he was. I respected his decision of my sentencing. At the time its probably just what I needed and the amount of time I needed to get my life in order, I went to trial and could have gotten 40 years with enhancements, he sentence me to 10 years. I consider my self lucky to that he over saw my case. I sent my condolences to...

I am sorry that I will not be able to attend the memorial service this weekend. Judge Debevoise was a personal hero of mine and an exemplar of everything a lawyer, judge and person should be. He was a kind mentor when I was a student at his alma mater, Columbia Law, and a role model in the 25 years since then. My deepest condolences to the whole family, though I believe he is now with his beloved Trina. Rest in peace.

I am so deeply sorry to learn of your father's passing especially since it was only a few months ago that you lose your Mom, Trina, my mother's roommate in college and dearest friend. I was so lucky to have met them and to have had the opportunity to visit with both of them in their home in Summit 10 years ago. They were so generous and so unassuming. I heard so much about both of them throughout my life. What wonderful, special, parents you had. So devoted to each other, their family,...

A nice man and a great judge who treated all who appeared before him with dignity. Gerald D.Siegel

one of my first jobs was at Riker, Danzig and I was fortunate enough to know your dad. May he rest in peace.

If my friend Chris Van Wagner liked you then I don't doubt for a second that you were a man of integrity.

My fondest recollection of my days as a law clerk to Judge Debevoise were the daily lunch discussions that ranged anywhere from current events, World War II, the Civil Rights Movement, and the Animal Rights Movement to the intricacies of Civil and Criminal Procedure. I'll never forget his advice to always "look at to the Model Jury Charges" for direction. And, who could forget the two cookies! In addition to being a brilliant and patient jurist, he was an honorable, warm, and caring friend...

More than 30 years ago, I had the good fortune to serve as law clerk to Judge Debevoise. His was the greatest generation, and indeed, he was one of the greatest. His most enduring traits, though, were his humility and his deep concern for all around him. Unlike many who "ascend" to the bench, Judge Debevoise simply ruled from it. He ate lunch daily with his clerks, and shared his life and theirs. We should all be so lucky to have had time with men like him and his peers. They were men of...

Dear Kate & family. I am so sorry to read of your father's passing, especially recalling that you lost your mother recently, as well. What an extraordinary set of parents! Your father's contributions certainly appear to be legendary & ground breaking, & furthered the causes of social justice that have helped to change our world for the better. His influence, memory, & legacy have & will extend well beyond your beautiful family memories, & he will be for a blessing to eternity. My...
