Dieter and I met for the first time in 1946 in Pfaffenhausen in Bavaria, where we both found shelter as refugees. We met again in Darmstadt, where my father got a job and Dieter took up his studies. Decades later, in 1990, we met in Huntsville. From then on for years we met as amateur radio operators every week. His call sign was N4GT. He was a wonderful person with a great sense of humor. I miss him and I send my condolences to his family. Hansjürgen Michel, Germany

It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Dieter. Although I have not seen him for several years, I remember how kind he was to me when I joined Astrionics Lab in February 1966. I admired his brilliance and was honored to know him. We often met in the Astrionics Lab Cafeteria around 10 in the morning for coffee and to share jokes or chat about Telescopes, Physics and Astronomy - Or just To Have a chuckle as we watched Dr. Herman Kroeger munch through his Apple from the...

My thoughts are with the family. I miss him so much. Althoug we lived so far away there was a strong bond. He will ever be my loving uncle, the one with the sunny cozy. There are so many wonderful memories I will keep in my heart forever. Im sure he is with his loved ones, whom he missed here on earth.

**Dear friends and family** - I forgot to add the in lieu of flowers portion to the obit. If you are so inclined, a donation to the Humane Society in dads name would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,
Marianne (daughter)

I had the pleasure to get to know and to work with Dieter for a number of years. I remember him well as a very knowledgeable individual, a great college, and as a friend. Since both of us had the same native country (Germany), it was always a pleasure to converse with him in our native language. He will be missed. RIP
