Dietlinde von Kuenssberg Jehle Raisig

"Frau Jehle", as she was then known, was a beloved German professor to me and others at U.Va. in the late 60's. I lost track of her until seeing her at the downtown Charlottesville recycling center thirty years later. "You're Frau Jehle," I beamed; she remembered me, and with that wonderful smile said she was Frau Raisig now. A beautiful, beautiful lady.

I remember still my first time eating cottage cheese at your house on Sherwood so long ago. I am sorry to hear news of your mother's passing, but I hope that you take solace in the fact that she is at peace with your father.

Dieta has been part of our lives since the 1960's when we became involved in Democratic political campaigns. Then, when art department colleague Bill Seitz became desperately ill, she dedicated much time and effort to his care and assistance to his wife, Irma.
