Dillard Hammett

I still think about Dillard. He was a truly amazing individual.

He was a great leader for all of the old Sedco (Sedco Forex) personnel. Long live his legacy. Tom Civiello

Like so many who had the privilege to experience Dillard's humor, friendship and counsel, I thank God for those lasting memories and lessons.

It's a testament to Dillard, that 41 years later, I remember his passion for Indian Hand Wrestling, practical jokes and his absolute serious academic and career advice in the same moment.

May we offer my deepest sympathy to you and your family in this time of loss. May you find great comfort from the Lord in knowing that Dillard is in the presence of our Lord. Thankfully his mind and body are no longer suffering and he is at peace. May the wonderful memories of a rich life bring you joy as you reflect on all that he meant to you. I will never forget Dillard's caring generosity to become personally involved to help a family when needed, or to give advice when consulted. You have been really great role models to everyone who has had the good fortune to know both of you. He will be greatly missed but not forgotten. I am so sorry to hear the news about Dillard. My condolences to the family.

I met Dillard when he came to see BP in London in 1980 to "explain" a rig tender to us. He and I spent a couple of days together filling in the gaps, and a few weeks later SEDCO were duly awarded the contract. He then arranged for me to work with him and the team on the project, beginning with a year in the office next to him in Dallas, followed by the shipyard in South Korea and operations out of Aberdeen....
