Darrile and Mark, I am so sorry that I did not find out about Dillon's passing until recently. My heart is sad and today I am grieving his loss. Though I never met him , I have read so many wonderful, moving and amazing anecdotes about him and his passion for life . He, like his father, loved the game of baseball. Mark, I will never forget the day you attended my father's memorial after not being in touch for many years. I wish I was at Dillon's funeral-- I am sorry. I send both of you my...

Darrile: I remember Dillon from Calvert Kid's Day. He and our daughter, Lee, played together. And, I remember that he was very enthusiatic about any games involving a ball! I know that your extended family at Calvert holds you and your husband in our hearts. Tacy Roby

I met Dillon when I started volunteering at the NIH Children's Inn in 2010 and he immediately stole my heart. My favorite story of his was when he was to read the starting line-up on TV for his beloved Baltimore Orioles but little did the Orioles manager know Dillon had his own favorite line-up and that is the line-up he spoke even though it differed from the manager's line-up. Dillon wasn't the only inspiration in his family--mom and dad were, too. One of my favorite sentiments is that it's...

I will never forget the first time I saw Dillon playing Little League with my son. I fell in love instantly with him and his family. I was always amazed at his ability to make connections with people despite his challenging health problems. He was the epitome of perseverance. I was also struck by Darrile and Mark's positive attitude during his trials and their ability to persevere through the MOST difficult of circumstances. Due to all of Dillon's successes, we kept thinking he would...

I meant Dillon at the investigator meeting in McLean Virginia at the Ritz. He was one of the sweetest boys that I've ever met! He definitely impacted me before my site started the study. I still have the picture that my site pi doctor and I talk with him! Such a charismatic rave sunshine. I still have his picture hanging on my wall at work from that meeting!
A new angel to watch over everybody! Thinking of you and your family.

Celebrating Dillon's birthday in the Oriole's club house at Camden Yard (2014)
It is hard to process the loss of one so young & so full of light. Our grief is so deep because our love was so strong. We will never forget this boy who changed all of our lives. Dillon led by example with his perseverance, passion, & courage. Dillon was incredibly accepting of his condition and demonstrated just how far a positive attitude can take you. His parents, Darrile & Mark Papier, showed us all how to carry on in the face of unimaginable sorrow. I am grateful beyond words to have...
