Dixie Ruth Cahill

I and many of the St Pius X Legion of Mary members visited Dixie at Springhill Senior Residents when we brought her Communion each week. She was always so cheerful and happy to see us and we loved talking with her. She told us wonderful stories about her family and friends. As her final days drew to an end her speech became slower than usual. Still, she wanted to say the Our Father with us to the very end and always smiled and thanked us for coming when we were leaving. We all will miss her.

For most of my 76 years I have always been asked if I was related to Dixie Cahill. I was not but my parents and hers crossed paths many times. She was from an iconic catholic and Irish family in Birmingham and Mobile. Good Irish stock. My she rest in peace.
