I met Dolly only once, and she certainly made an impression on me.
We met at the Feis, in Port
Townsend, WA. Naturally, we had a lot to chat about, as I am Dolina MacAulay, from South Uist, and since my parents were from North Uist, she was able to place them. I have also chatted with her on the phone, one of the times I was visiting Richard Hill (Seattle. Her Gaelic was very good, and she hadn't forgotten a thing. I first met Dolly at a Robert Burns Night Supper in White Rock, British Columbia, about 8 years ago. We talked for a long time that night, and she told me some of her memories growing up in North Uist.
