Dolores B. Dietz, 88, of New Ulm died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Dolores Bertha Kloeckl was born on Dec. 11, 1919 in Cottonwood Township, Brown County to Frank Joseph and Mary Ann (Hillesheim) Kloeckl. She finished the eighth grade in 1936 and after her mother's death that year she then helped raise her siblings. On Oct. 14, 1940 she was united in marriage to Arthur A. Dietz in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles. They lived in New Ulm and she had worked at the Wearwell Garment Factory, Oswald New Ulm Laundry, as a cook at the Highland Manor Nursing Home and was a homemaker and daycare provider. Dolores loved motorcycling, sewing, playing cards, reading, canning, partying, playing Scrabble, and dancing. She established and carried out many delightful family traditions. Her family held a special place in her heart. She dedicated time to helping Cathedral with the school summer canning program and had chaired the Cathedral parish picnic meal. Dolores was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Christian Mother's Society, charter member of the German Bohemian Heritage Society, and a former member of 4H and the St. Anne's Court 389, N.C.S.F. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur 'Artie' Dietz on Aug.12, 1997; siblings and in-laws, Valeria and Lester Kading, Larry and Marge Kloeckl, Frank Kloeckl, Joe Kloeckl, Joyce Stadick, Jane LaPlante, Norman Schnobrich, Martha and Armin Pufahl, Laura Arbes; and a granddaughter. Dolores is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Pauline and Chuck Poppler of Eden Prairie, Linda and Denny Hull of Charles City, Iowa, Mary and Gary Schreyer of New Ulm, Rosanne and Don Mellesmoen of Duluth, Barb and Ken Hart of Ramona, South Dakota, Francie and Mark Sandmann of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, John Dietz of New Ulm, Jerry and Janet Dietz of Beaumont, Texas, Joe and Lori Dietz and Vince Dietz all of New Ulm; 29 grandchildren including Alesha and Tiffany Mellesmoen, of Duluth and Mike Mellesmoen of Maple Grove; numerous great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lorraine and Jim Pullman of Salem, Ore., Marie and Dick Blaha of Scio, Ore., Norbert Stadick of Aloha, Ore., Art Arbes of New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law, John Kloeckl of Kalispell, Mon., Paul and Marlene Kloeckl, Roger and Mary Kloeckl all of Gaylord, Tony and Margie Kloeckl of Arlington, Phil and Theresa Kloeckl of Darwin, Sally Goblirsch of New Ulm, and Audrey Kloeckl of Gaylord; nieces and nephews. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL:11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008 in the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Father Mark Steffl celebrating the Mass. Burial will be at the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mother's will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Friday in the Cathedral. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
