Dolores Dupree

Dolores Dupree, age 78, of Newport, Vermont, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023.

Dolores (Dodie) was born in Queens, New York on April 22, 1945, daughter of the late Adeline Lange and David Amon Dupree. She graduated from Patchogue High School on Long Island, NY in 1962 and worked as a hairdresser before getting married and starting a family.

Dolores is survived by her three children: Todd V. Cario of Houston, TX; Adrian Madison Cario of San Francisco, CA; and Claire F. Cario of Brooklyn, NY; her grandson, Thomas F. Burkel; and half-siblings Kimberly Smith and Scott Smith of Altamonte Springs, FL.

Wherever Dolores went she made people laugh. Known for her sharp wit and gift for open conversation, you might be hard pressed to find a spot in Newport and the surrounding towns where someone didn’t know Dolores. She lived a full, simple life in the northeast. Avid traveler, Dolores lived all over the eastern seaboard from Florida to Vermont. No matter how far she roamed, she always returned to the Northeast Kingdom, a place and people that captured her heart. It was here that she thrived, surrounded by nature and people. She was a lover of animals, music, and dancing.
