Dolores in high school

I've known Patty a very long time and oddly I did not know her beloved mother. I knew she was cherished, remarkable, strong etc. She was Patty's mom. After reading about her extraordinary life, I realize was she was akin to a national treasure! What a life, what a legacy, what a truly phenomenal mom!
There are few who touch so many in a lifetime. She will most certainly be missed and also deeply remembered as each person touched now lives a richer life for having known her.

Toast on the Hill, Illinois, 2001

my dear friend Patricia,
i am thinking of you daily. For as long as i have known you i have heard of how you cherish your mother. How hard it will be to lose her so hard that you couldn't bare the thought. And of course you were right. How precious for you that you had her as long as you did; that you had the opportunity to give her the love and care that she so deserved. She knew that she was loved by you and so many.

Norbert and Dolores Hruby

At the Cathedral, we heard the Children's choir and I marveled at Dolores' capability. But at St. Jude's this week, tears wet my cheeks as I understood all that she had done. I saw and heard singers cry and cry out in song to bless Dolores, her family and friends...

Norbert and Family,
Deepest sympathy to you at this time and greatest celebration for the life that Dolores shared with so many children through her love of music. She was such a vital part of Choristers Guild as a composer and a member of the Board of Directors. I will always remember her devoted attendance and shepherding of the young singers from St. Jude at the Choristers Guild Summer Seminars in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Norbert and family,
Dolores greeted me when I moved to Grand Rapids. I had already read about her work at St. Jude's in the Chorister Guild magazine and knew she was a woman I needed to meet. She was a part of my life for 20 years but my fondest memory is playing her piano duets with her at an NPM chapter meeting. What joy to make music with the forerunner of church music in Grand Rapids. I just shared her name with my students at Wheaton college. Her music will continue for years to...
