B.W. Foster Funeral Home - Portsmouth Obituary

PORTSMOUTH—Dolores Marguerite Hecker, 91 years old, passed away at home on January 14, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 15, 1934, and grew up on the southside of Chicago. She later married and had 6 beautiful children.

Dolores was a loving, caring, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who loved her family more than life itself. She was the foundation of her family and will be deeply missed by so many.

She is predeceased by a son, William S. Hecker; a daughter, Carol Hecker-Lussen; parents Axel and Johanna Andersen; and four brothers: Richard, Donald, James, and Paul Andersen. She is survived by a sister, Lola Zook; two brothers, Kenneth and Raymond Andersen; a daughter, Sandra Hecker-Lawrence of Portsmouth; and three sons: Richard Hecker and wife Misty, Paul Hecker and wife Lisa, and Alan Hecker and wife Helen, of Suffolk. In addition, she is survived by eight grandchildren: Leigh Williams and husband Pete, Nikki Hecker, Alison Hecker, Megan Hecker, Ashley Hecker, Ryan Hecker, Brandon Hecker, and Thomas Lawrence; five great-grandchildren: Kayleigh Babb, Nova Zielezinski, Mason Manai, Chloe Hecker, Jaxon Greene; and one great-great-granddaughter, Blair Babb.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Trinity Hospice Care for caring for Dolores and giving her their love and support.
