Not sure what to say?

Thank you Delores for the perennials that you made me take from your yard when you shut down your gardens. I moved twice and kept them alive in pots, mulch piles and crowded in raised beds. I have the most magnificent flowers and am still finding new ones from plants that I thought were weeds but kept anyway. My peonies and daylilies are incredible. Your gardens are still alive and you will never be forgotten. I know that you are smiling when you look down and see them. Rest well, Neil

Today is November 16, 2018. Auntie Dilly would have been 97. My oldest granddaughter, Ayla, was born today 6 years ago. She is and will always be known as Auntie Dilly's Birthday Buddy! One of the many cherished and lasting memories of Auntie Dilly. Auntie Dilly has always been in my life. Longer than my father, her brother, Pep. I have many memories of Auntie Dilly. The wonderful antipasto and delicious pies at Christmas time. The ball bearings she gave to me and I cherished as a...

We did not, unfortunately, get to know "Aunt Dilly" very well when we lived in Meriden in the 1960's, but we knew her brother Joseph ("Pep") Mittica and his family well and also their Corrigan Ave. neighbors and cousins Joe and Rose Mercuri and family. In addition to these, we knew numerous other relatives of Dilly's.

The summer before last, however, we had an opportunity to connect with Dilly (after many, many years) at a family gathering to celebrate the life of one of her nephews,...

I can still walk around my garden and identify all the flowers I personally got from Auntie Dilly. And it wasn't that she simply offered; she encouraged people to take the flowers and spread the love. She had so much love to give and was always ready to share it.

She also had this feisty side that was so easy to admire that made her so strong and independent.

I'll always miss listening to her tell me about the most recent book she was reading. She even told me about her...

I am sorry regarding the loss of your loved one. May the God of Comfort, continue to comfort the family, during these difficult times. May he, continue to give support and loving kindness to all. 1Cor 1:3,4

My wife and I visited Auntie Dilly just a month ago. Even at 96, we were amazed how sharp her intellect was. All my years growing up, Auntie Dilly left such an impression on me: her love of gardening, her love of reading, her strength and her fierce sense of independence. Should I be lucky to live so long, Auntie Dilly is exactly the kind of "old" person I would like to be.

This photo is from two years ago of Auntie Dilly with her great grandniece. They shared the same birthday and both loved books. She will be missed.

I work periodically at the Yalesville Branch Library, and always enjoyed talking with Ms. Mettica when she visited. She had many interests, and especially enjoyed "good" nonfiction books. I will miss seeing her!
