Corridan Funeral Home - Chicopee Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Dolores M. Morin, 94 - wife, mother, grandmother, dancer - entered eternal rest peacefully on Valentine’s Day, joining her husband of 62 years. She was a longtime resident of Springfield and led a full and healthy life. Dolores was born in Ludlow, MA. She was the first and only child to the late Lawrence and Florine (Dupuis) Benoit. After graduating from Commerce High School, Dolores went to work for many years at the New England Telephone & Telegraph Company where she rose through the ranks to become Group Chief Operator. One of her passions was dance, which was a big part of her life from when she was five years old and until her passing. She performed in many local shows, and traveled the world to entertain soldiers who were serving far from home in places such as Libya, the Azores, and Bermuda. After starting her family, she shared her passion for dance by teaching to children of all ages at the Dance Center, St. Joseph’s School of Dance, the South End Community Center, and at Annmarie’s Dance Place Plus alongside her eldest daughter. In more recent years, she spent her time putting shows together to entertain local senior citizens groups and at nursing homes. She also put on regular performances in the New England Center during the Big E. In 2003, she entered the Ms. Senior Massachusetts pageant and was awarded first runner up. Through the years she participated in numerous clubs and organizations – the Springfield Symphony Women’s League, Le Cercle des Dames Françaises, the Longmeadow Maternal Association, the Longmeadow Women’s Club, the MacDuffie School Parents Association, Dance Educators of America, the Red Hat Ladies, MA Senior America Cameo Club, and many more. Dolores also enjoyed traveling with her husband, making frequent visits to St Anne de Beaupre, Quebec, Lancaster, PA, and to Orlando, Florida. She leaves family and friends with much love, and cherished memories of her talent, smile, and sense of humor. Dolores was predeceased by her devoted husband, Louis, in January 2022. She is survived by their four daughters: Annmarie Morin of Florida, Dr. Merribeth Morin and her husband BG John Driscoll of Springfield, Dr. Celeste Ste. Claire of New Jersey, and Michelle Reed of Enfield, who gave Dolores her two beloved grandchildren, Christopher and Chloé Reed. Family and friends are invited to gather directly at St. Michael’s Cathedral, 260 State St, Springfield, MA, at 10:00a.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022, for her Liturgy of Christian Burial, with Rites of Committal to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Hampden St, Chicopee, MA. Visiting hours will be held Friday, February25, 2022 from 4-7 PM at the Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield Street Chicopee, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Cathedral, 260 State Street, Springfield, MA 01103, or the CatholicTV Network, P.O.
