He wasa great and loving man to whom I have known gor a short period of time. He was a family man and a friend of many, who would be surely miss. Be at peace my Brother. We will meet at the crossroad. Much Friendship and Respect. "Dadisi-Lo"

When his sister Rita called me, I was shocked. She knows how I feel. My heart goes out to his family and long life friends. His mom was my Brownie leader and a great friend to my mom. Don and my sister Toni they called each other cousins because they had such a close relationship.

Words can not express the heaviness of my heart at this time. For over 55 years from the beginning, we laughed, we cried, sang, danced an even had did agreements about the songs order. But most of all, Love never left us. The Malibuettes, Linda Nealy Jones, Trellis Williams, Jackie Thurmond Terry, Linda Lee Raymond an the late Linda zhesrns. We will truly miss you, but can not ever forget you. Soul Brother forever Don.

Don became a part
Of our Oklahoma family years ago he and Sally. Anytime the Malibu’s came to Oklahoma it was so exciting because we knew our extended family Richard Ronnie amd Don were gonna put on a great show and would feel like being home....Don did just that with his precision and care for the group. We always had a good time and Don was very personable & cordial to everyone he met, as well as Sally. To the wife and children, and my extended family, Johnetta Richard ,Ronnie...

I knew Don from the neighborhood. He lived around the corner from me. We went from kindergarted at Grant Elementary School, through junior high at John Marshall and finally graduation from Edison High in 1965. I remember when Don and the Tarkington brothers started the Malibus in the front yard of his home on American Street. Don was a neighbor, friend, classmate and brother. He will be missed and remembered dearly by family, friends and fans. Rest easy my friend, until we all meet...

I would like to extend My Deepest Sympathy and Condolences to the family and loved ones. My heart dropped when I heard the news. I lived next door to Ms. Carter, Don, Sharol, and Rita during my childhood and into my early teens. Don and The California Malibus were my inspiration to be a singer and Sharol and Rita were and are still my Big Sistaz. While so much was going on Ms. Carter kept things in check. Don I admired you guys on stage. Your vocals, choreography, and energy was so amazing...

Don you were like a big brother to me a person I could always count on to chop it up with real talk. I had so much fun with you and the Malibu's back in the day in the entertainment business it was one of the best times in my life growing up I remember you let me drive your Cadillac when we were young I felt like I was really somebody it meant a lot to me back then because I was going thru a lot of tough times in my life but your caring and kind words up lifted me to grow up and try to...
