Don Copenhaver Obituary

COPENHAVER, Don (Age 68)

Don will be missed by
many near and far.
On July 2nd, Don passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family. He has been battling lung cancer for 13 years. Don was in good health and spirits until recently. Only two weeks ago, he began having pain and the problems with his strength and balance increased. As daddy said " I'm as healthy as a horse, except for this damn cancer!"
Don was born March 2nd, 1943 to Guy and June Copenhaver. He grew up with his brothers, Gary and Bill, on Bachelor Prairie and throughout his life, never moved far from his original home. Although, after school, Don joined the U.S. Navy and was always proud of the years he spent on the subs, serving his country.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Guy and June Copenhaver, His daughter Idella Faye, and brother Bill Copenhaver. He is survived by his wife Carol Copenhaver, brother Gary Copenhaver, daughters, Merilla (and Rob) Hopkins, Belle (and Jim) Petty, Anna Mae (and Mike) Rohde, numerous nieces and nephews and the grandchildren he loved so much - Tyler Covey, Macie, Nathan, Shane, and Cody Hopkins, Ivan Petty, and Michelle Rohde.
The celebration of Don's life will be held at 11am, Friday, July 8th at the Copenhaver Family Farm, 33717 Copenhaver Rd. N. This will be an informal ceremony, please bring your own lawn chair and memories to share.
We will miss the man who shaped our lives! We love you Daddy!!!

I met Don when I was about 8-10 years old and I am now 48. My grandpa Bud started taking me to Don and Carols property to deer hunt. I hunted there almost every fall until I was around 32 years old. Many memories of Don and the farm, the archery pit, using his 4 wheelers to bring our deer up from out of the canyons. When we would show up at their house to check in, Carol would always fix up food and their girls would visit with my grandpa who they really enjoyed.
Great people and tons of memories. Would be great if Carol got this memory. Would enjoy talking with her somehow. Thank you.

I don't know if you remember me..Andy Schab (Frampton), I was one of the nurses for Ivan. I just read Don's obituary in the paper and wanted to express my condolences for your loss. He was always such a gentleman, a very warm and caring man. I enjoyed the times I came out to your home to provide care for Ivan. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time.
