Not sure what to say?

I know this is late in coming, but I hadn't been in touch with Don for some time. I first knew Don as Windowman, and he replaced sashcords throughout my old Minneapolis home. Don taught me a lot about old houses, and with more patience than my own father. I think of him often - every time I glide open the windows. All best to Don's family. I will miss him too.

Papa, it has been seven months and I still think, “When will you come home from Mexico?” I miss you a lot. I still cannot believe you are gone. I know that you are sitting on a beach somewhere watching the birds; just as I will always remember you doing. I am grateful I got to visit you in La Manzanilla. I will remember those days forever. I will remember your amazing driving skills as we drove through the mountains listening to you tell your stories. You left our lives much too early,...

For the past three years Letty and I had the privelege of Don's company and friendship in Mexico. We became fast friends and we shall miss his generosity, compassion and humor. He became a vital part of my program in AA. Please accept our sympathy and condolences at your loss

To the Crotty family - Don leaves behind many friends who knew him through the years. Although I hadn't seen him in several years, I have warm memories of his kindness, compassion and friendship in the program. He was always up for an adventure! May you all carry on his loving memory in your lives throughout. All the best, in sympathy, Mary Murck

Shelly, Liza, and Lori I will always remember the camping trips when we were young. The campfires and stories your dad made up as he went along and fun games we enjoyed. Also how he was there for us when we lost Jerry. My deepest sympathy to you.

Don was obviously a significant person to many people. To all of you, please accept my sincere condolences on your loss.

The renowned nature writer and conservationist,Sigurd Olson, left his home in Ely one bitter January morning in 1982 and set out snowshoeing. It would be a trek from which he would not return. He collapsed on the trail and passed away shortly thereafter. The next day, in the small writing shack he kept out behind his home, his son found a single sheet of paper in Sigurd's typewriter. On it were just three lines, spaced out as if prose, all three lines centered one above the next.

Lori, I think of you as a friend, not just my Boss. My heart if heavy for you and your family. You are teaching us all how to grieve with Grace.
