Don Franks stepped into glory on the early morning of May 1st, 2025, to be with his Savior. Don was born on March 9th, 1945, to his late mother and father, Iris Bradley and Joseph Franks. He was the youngest of three; his siblings are Carol Traweek (who resides in Cross Plains, TX), and late brother Alfred (Freddy) Franks.
As a courageous young man, he served his country during the Vietnam War staying stateside. Once he returned home he married his sweetheart, Mary Clark on December 2nd, 1966. The young couple started their precious family with their daughter Amy (who resides in Lubbock, TX), Jean Ann (who resides in San Angelo, TX) and Jody (who resides with his wife, Misty Aldridge Franks, in Midland, TX).
Don was an extremely hard working man who built his own business, Don Franks Heating and Air Conditioning. He took pride in every job which showed with over 50 years of service.
To know him was to love him.
He was well known in the neighborhood for his daily walks - seen either with his big straw hat during the spring/summer or a blue toboggan in the fall/winter. He really enjoyed visiting with many in the neighborhood. Our family is especially grateful for the neighbors looking out for him in recent days.
He was a nurturing and loving Grandpa to two beautiful granddaughters, Grace Franks and CoCo Brown. Both share fond memories of him and lessons he taught. Waking up early with Grandpa to go feed chickens, cows and cats, and returning to warm pancakes for breakfast was the best part of weekend visits.
Don had many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as a whole host of friends. He will be remembered by all as a loving, God-fearing man. We rest assured he is in Heaven. "For to be absent from the body, is to be with the Lord." 2 Corinthians, 5:8.
Visitation with be from 5 - 8 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Dignity Ellis Resthaven Funeral located at 4616 N Big Spring in Midland, TX. Funeral services to be held Tuesday, May 6th, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Dignity Ellis Funeral Home followed by interment at Greenwood Baptist Cemetery. Family requests that attendees wear blue in honor of his favorite color and his blue eyes.
