Not sure what to say?

I have just come across this information, so I apologize that I did not know this sooner. I met Don in 1966 when I started a job at John B Rourke at 10 West State Street during a break from college. Even though my family had been in the "business" forever, I learned more from Don in 6 months than I had up to then. He was hilarious, and there were dozens of "in" jokes and stories we told about each other--several about me, former employees, customers, and people from town that we knew. ...

Don and his wife Carolyn were gracious and always kind to all. My wife and I were privileged to know him the last seven years through membership in the English Speaking Union. Rob and Natalie Bayless.

Such sad news. Our deepest sympathy to Carolyn and all of the family. Don was a great friend for many many years and fun to be around. I will especially miss his great sense of humor. A loss for Savannah and all who knew him.

Don always had a smile on his face and greeted you as a special friend. Enjoyed serving with him on the Deacon Board at Bull Street Baptist Church. His Christian leadership was valued. We will miss him greatly.

Don was a fine fellow whom I enjoyed knowing through the English Speaking Union. He will be missed. My condolences to his family.

Don, was a gentleman to the core! He got me started in the clothing business which is my career now! He was always so jovial and caring, and always in a good mood! We shared a lot of laughs, and fashion talks! There is a hole in my heart! He was dearly loved, and will be missed by all who knew him! One of the finest human beings I ever knew!! Ned. Williams

I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Don since my early days at Vineyard Vines. He was one of the first customers that gave me a chance and bought some ties from me. He was always such a happy go lucky guy, in a great mood and just loved life. I am so sad he is no longer with us. I will really miss hearing from him. Rest in peace, Don.

I will truly miss Don. He was not only my mentor but he was one of my best friends. I will always cherish the times we had and will always remember his smile and desire to help me. A true gentleman. Rest in peace my friend.
