What does one say when you have known someone for more than half your life and they are your best friend and they suddenly pass away?

I first met Don when he came to WVIZ-TV in 1969. I was leaving to become the Director of Audio Services at Oberlin College. Don was the newest broadcast engineer at WVIZ. We became instant friends as I was leaving and we have stayed best of friends for 48 years.
