Not sure what to say?

Sorry to learn of Don's passing. He was always so full of energy and spirit. He was a highly successful part of the WRR Radio "Family", as well as an ardent SMU sports fan.
And as I recall he was among the early and long-time supporters of Dallas Chapparal basketball. Don will be missed by all who knew him.
Sincere condolences to the Family.

To Don's Family & Friends,
I met Don through the local Penn State Alumni chapter over 10 years ago. The best word to describe this great man is PASSION! I knew of his love for lacrosse as well as anything Penn State. SMU & the Dallas area are very lucky to have known & enjoyed such a great soul! We all can only hope to live our lives in a similar manner. God bless.

To Don's family and friends,
Don Newberry was a lovely guy we met through our son Charlie Goyer's high school lacrosse career - class of Highland Park 2000. Don took us and Charlie under his wing and seeing some talent he tried to shepherd Charlie into college lacrosse. He was kind and enthusiastic and so eager to see the young lacrosse players with talent fulfill their potential! We had some great conversations with him and looking back back- he personified so many of the qualities...

Dear Sally and family, I had the pleasure of working with Don at WRR Radio, Classical 101,1FM. He was always an inspiration to me. He still had that little boy enthusiaum, and a perfect example was when he told me his New Year's resolution was "to stop running over cans" they were ruining his tires, but he still got a kick out of it.!! I believe he was about 73 at the time. I feel honored to have known him . He was a fine man, and he is already missed. My sincere sympathy to all of...

Dear Sally and family - I will never forget Don. He was my coach and my friend. Every lacrosse player in Texas, past, present, and future owes Don a debt of heartfelt thanks.
I am so grateful I got to know and play for such a great man. My family and I send our deepest sympathies.

Sally & family:
Don was such an inspiration and vital to the founding of lacrosse in Dallas in the 70's. He was tireless and determined in promoting the sport and led by example with his courageous on field presence. The fastest growing sport in the nation owes a debt of gratitude to men like Don.

Sally and Family - It was an honor and a pleasure to know Don and to share his love of lacrosse. My memory of him will always be the great laugh that stood out from all others, the huge smile, and the obvious joy of life that filled Don and that he shared with everyone he met. All of the Dallas lacrosse family join you in the loss of this great friend, and we extend our deepest sympathies to you and yours during this time.

Dear Sally and family,

Back in 1990, my wife Ann and I started the Plano lacrosse team. Son Robert was the coach and son Chris played and recruited his fellow football players. Don took a strong interest in our endeavors and helped us raise money to purchase equipment which we rented to players each season. Don was instrumental in helping us reach the state championship game in 1992 against Houston Episcopal. The entire Plano organization and all of Dallas Lacrosse will miss his spirit...

Sally and The Family...
It was always fun being around Don with his infectious laugh and great sense of humor. And we all admired his low-key response to his WWII contribution at Normandy. The broadcast family of Dallas will miss him.
There is an old Irish belief...that on some distant shore far from the travails and labours of today, old friends and family shall meet again once more.
We'll see Don again.
