Not sure what to say?

I am so saddened to learn of Don’s passing. He had a profound impact upon my life when I was a young man. In 1982, I worked as a political intern in Governor Orr’s Washington, DC office and Don was the director. I appreciated his wisdom, knowledge, and confidence in me to assign me important projects that took me to Congressional hearings, Senatorial meetings, and many other wonderful experiences. He truly taught me so much. He was a fantastic leader and such an honorable man. I wish t9...

I have only known Don for a few years. We met at church where I was introduced to him by a close friend of mine. Each week, I would welcome his warm, firm handshake and generous smile. When not in church, Don and I would enjoy meeting for lunch and fascinating conversions and then drive over to visit the local airport where he and I would drive around admiring the various airplanes stopping when we got close to one similar to the last one he owned. I will miss...

Please except my deepest sympathies as the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you be comforted by the loved ones and support of God.

I was living in Minnesota when Don met Ginger. I heard a lot about him, then when I flew down to Florida for the wedding to meet Don, Don gave me a surprise that I never expected. I secret handshake. The secret handshake he gave me was one that only members of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity know. As it turned out Don and I were brothers. Brothers of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. We had something in common right from the start. Don got a big kick out of surprising me with that handshake and I...

A great friend and a wonderful man and all else.

I first met Mr. Newman more than 55 years ago. He always was a true gentleman and always willing to share positive thoughts with others. I remember back in around 2010 he was visiting us in LaPorte in the dead of winter. He flex in, but could not take off due to the amount of ice on the runway. Needing to move his plane into a hanger, I had the pleasure to what Don called "wing walking" his plane by pushing it left and right to get off the runway. We laughed many times about "wing...

My mom worked with Don Newman at Newman's Pharmacy for many years. She spoke fondly of Mr. Newman. I would go to the store and he would take me over to his ice cream freezer and grab an ice cream bar and give it to me. He was soft spoken and always had a smile on his face. Condolences to his wife and to his two daughters Barb and Kathy.

Thank you Don for being a good and courageous friend so many years ago. You made the world a better place.

I worked for Don at the pharmacy all through high school and my first 2 years at Notre Dame. He was a great boss and mentor. The last couple of years he was responsible for getting me an apprentice pharmacy license and I worked directly with him filling prescriptions.
Don was indeed a fine human being and feel honored to have know him.
RIP Don!
