Not sure what to say?

I was in the French Quarter in 1974 found her on a sidewalk with all of her art. We had a lovely conversation and I bought several black and white sketches. Upon my request, she later did a water color sketch of clarinetist Pete Fountain, who I interviewed that evening. She sent me my painting of Fountain, and both it and her color sketch of Jackson Square hand in my den to this day. Lovely woman and lovely memory.

I have found one of her pictures in my dads belongings when he passed away recently. I am not sure if it is an original or a print. Would like to return it to her family if anyone has their address? Thanks

Some time ago I met Donabeth in New Orleans where I discussed my son who is also an artist. I acquired one of her pieces and she so voluntarily wrote a personal message to me on the back. She was a remarkably warm person, so willing to share in the discussion. I will cherish this piece as well as her message.

I recently bought 3 pieces of her work at a garage sale and instantly became a huge fan. I have read a little bit about her, I wish I could find more. I was in New Orleans 2 years ago for the first time.I wish I could have met her. God Bless and my heart goes out to her family.

Donnabeth and Lowell were an unforgotten light in the French Quarter of New Orleans for many years. We were in business there also and shared many good times together. We have kept many of her drawings of the old New Orleans which we will continue to treasure.
We thank the family for all the care you gave her in these later years.

Dear Donnie's Family,

We are saddened to learn of Donnie's death. But be assured, we have many fond memories of the times we were able to be together when we all were much younger.

Donabeth was one of my best friends in highschool and our close friendship continued in college where we joined the Delta Gamas together.  Her friendship has always been a treasure throughout  the years.  I looked forward to hearing from her each Christmas and following the news of her family her artistic career.  Her closeness to her children was evident in recent years in the yearly letters from Bruce which kept me informed of Donabeth.    Alice Arntsen

As a Tulane freshman, I, like so many others, stumbled across the Hungry Artist Studio in the French Quarter. It was the subject of one of my articles for the Tulane Hullabaloo, a clipping Donabeth and Lowell kindly displayed at their store.

I was also fortunate to work at the Hungry Artist one summer. Donabeth's sketches and paintings made people happy. Everyone who entered the shop was pleased to see her refreshing, traditional take on French Quarter and Louisiana life. What a...

My mom, Wyn Murrell, who left us in 2003, was very close to Donabeth & Lowell in New Orleans French Quarter for many years. I personally met Donabeth on numerous occasions & thought her a grand, fun lady. My God bless you in your loss, and His gain. My sister Wynn of New York City remembers Donabeth and also sends condolences. As does my daughter Murray.
