Although he was never my teacher, he always made a point to say hello and interact with me. The halls of Powell Middle will never be the same! God bless and thank you for your service to our country! Many prayers to the family.

Don (Bud) has been a friend since childhood at Lonsdale UMC. He was always a leader and a good person. I pray that the memory of his life will be a comfort to his family.

This saddens me to see of his passing he was a awesome man! I was a student of his years ago and I can honestly say my favorite and most memorable teacher. I always seen him out at the ut games and always enjoyed talking with him. He will be truely missed I hope that my child has a teacher as devoted as him!

Mr. Akers was a wonderful teacher and role model to me and so many others at Holston High. So sorry for your loss. Truly one of the good guys and among my best memories from school.
