Not sure what to say?

Still remember Mr. Akers from my freshman year in 1970. I left Holston High, but he never left me. Blessings on your family, as he was to so many.

Although he was never my teacher, he always made a point to say hello and interact with me. The halls of Powell Middle will never be the same! God bless and thank you for your service to our country! Many prayers to the family.

He had such a positive effect on so many. He was loved and repected by hundreds of past sudents. Mark Caldwell

Sorry for this great loss. Thoughts and prayers sent your way.
Love to you all

I'm so sorry for your lost.

We are so sorry for your loss! May God be with you in your time of sorrow, and may you find comfort in the words of the many people Mr. Akers touched in his lifetime.

Don (Bud) has been a friend since childhood at Lonsdale UMC. He was always a leader and a good person. I pray that the memory of his life will be a comfort to his family.

This saddens me to see of his passing he was a awesome man! I was a student of his years ago and I can honestly say my favorite and most memorable teacher. I always seen him out at the ut games and always enjoyed talking with him. He will be truely missed I hope that my child has a teacher as devoted as him!

Mr. Akers was a wonderful teacher and role model to me and so many others at Holston High. So sorry for your loss. Truly one of the good guys and among my best memories from school.
