I am extremely distressed to learn of Bill's passing. I just heard the news this afternoon, the 23rd, while I am here in Blacksburg teaching at Va. Tech this week. I am very sad, indeed, that I cannot get to Anderson tomorrow to be with you and all the family. Bill and I had a good and very long conversation about midday on June 14.
