Don

I think of Donald often. He was my teacher and friend. I've yet to meet another who can match his accrued breadth of knowledge and creative skill. We met and bonded in Egypt and he became my Egyptology mentor when we returned to Boston. I'm grateful for his memory. Until we meet again...

Donald profoundly influence my life. We met in Egypt, and when we returned to Boston, I became a student and friend of his. May his family have comfort and peace. Eve Schatz

PSU Celebrating my birthday with you. Building props for your Ceaser and Cleopatra. You made me feel so proud. Spending an afternoon in Boston on the paint bridge with only dye and white. Magic. Elbows on the design table at TAPS. Helping me sketch the proportions of the human form. You always had time. Cousin Helen told me you had left. I looked up for the stars. You were there.

Don provided a holistic perspective on art and scenery in his courses. He opened my awareness of shape, proportion, and construction that still informs me today. I've taken the lessons Don provided and shared them with my children and other students.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

You were a devoted care giver to my Mother and a terrific Grandfather to all of our Children. My condolences to all of your family.

You were 29 months older than me and taught me to read as you learned it in Ogden #6. I read Black Beauty to Larry before I entered school. Forever grateful!

Don was one of the finest artists it has been my pleasure to know. I have several of his drawings, and an invitation to a Victorian New Years Party that was done in beautiful illustration and calligraphy. He quoted Meridith's poem about dining in it.

The Graffams send condolences and treasure his memory.
